Handshakes and words were once stronger than a contract. However, today many claim to be trustworthy and too often, it's all talk and no action.
Come to an exciting character education assembly at Lincoln school on December 3. This assembly is a 40-minute multi-media experience, where the goal is to teach students to:
- be honest with themselves
- be responsible for their own actions
- be straightforward and honest with those around them in a positive, respectful manner
- become a person everyone can trust
This is a great opportunity for families to view this important message together.
Where: Lincoln Elementary School, 4416 S Packard Ave When: December 3, 2008 Time: 7:00 PM

Students at General Mitchell School are entering a new unit on Data and Statistics.
- Students surveyed the 5th and 6th grade population on their favorite items (for example: ice cream, colors, or radio stations). With these statistics, students tallied up the data, created a frequency table, histogram, and double bar graph.
- The next activity included probability and combination of dice sums. Students determined the likelihood of each sum occurring over the duration of 50 dice rolls.
- The students then counted and calculated the frequency of colors appearing in bags of M&M's and Skittles. Students found fractions, decimals, and percents for each color. Discussion revolved around whether or not color choices are a random draw or purposely picked due to consumer demand! We will follow up our findings with a trip to the Jelly Belly Factory in Pleasant Prairie!

The students in grades K4 through 6 at Kosciuszko Elementary School honored veterans of the military by participating in Veteran’s Day activities.
First, the children of all grade levels showed their patriotism and came dressed in red, white or blue for the day.
Second, some students who have family members who are veterans brought in pictures. These pictures, and a few inspiring notes and articles, are on display outside the office. It’s a truly inspiring exhibit!
Lastly, all the students assembled outside the school in the afternoon for a flag raising ceremony. Mr. Katte opened with a few inspiring words for our veterans, followed by an extraordinary performance of the national anthem by Cudahy High School students Kristin Kasper and Kristen Sluzar. Fifth grade student Renee Tschudi then followed by reading a touching poem about the sacrifice veterans make for our country. Mr. Scaffidi ended the ceremony by playing a chilling rendition of Taps on the trumpet. Both staff and students were moved by the day’s activities and able to take a moment to remember our selfless veterans of the U.S. Military.

Kooky Characters! Students at General Mitchell school were asked to design new crazy and zany characters for an upcoming movie being produced by the Kooky Character Company.
The presidents of this company, Mrs. Mendola and Mrs. Palkowski, selected the characters to star in this movie!
Requirements
The students' job was to build a character for the company to use in an upcoming movie. They needed to spend between $55 and $65 in materials (that our store supplied). This price includes tax! The students could not exceed or go below this price range. When the creatures were created, they were required fall within the range of 17 inches and 25 inches tall. Finally, the students needed to create a sales pitch for their character.
They also needed to include a detailed description of their character, the name, and at least five reasons why the people of the Kooky Character Company should use the creature as the star of the movie.

The marching band traveled to Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 25 to compete in the Youth in Music Regional Championships at the Metrodome.
This unique competition gave the students a chance to compete with bands from outside Wisconsin. The students experienced exhibition performances by the University of Minnesota Marching Band, UW-Eau-Claire Marching Band, the Minnesota Opera, Minne-Brass, and the U.S. Army Rock Band. The Minnesota trip was the final performance this season for the Cudahy High School students.
The students, directors, and community can be proud of the band's great season and many wonderful experiences this year.
