Everything is RELATIVE ..........

Two things you can be thankful for (out of a list of thousands)

1) You won the lottery and were born in the United States

2) You don't live in Somalia

I have been told that transferring power over hundreds of miles of cables is very inefficient because the further you transfer the power, the more of it you lose.

From both an economical and ecological perspective, the closer the power source is to the user -- the more efficiently it is used correspondingly, less power has to be produced.

In theory, if each house had its own fuel cell, it would not only be economical and ecological, but it would also make power outages something consigned to history books.

The way our elections have panned out the last few times, it really doesn't matter what anyone's stance was on anything, as there was either no one to run against the incumbent or the position was appointed by current board members!

There has to be a reason why 12 folks threw their hats into the appointee ring, yet none did so at election time! (see Steve Koczela's Jun 18 2008 blog entitled: "Why doesn't anybody run for Trustee?" and the 9 comments associated with it)

The sooner someone can figure out why, the better our representation will be here in Shorewood!

I've noticed in Shorewood many of our duplexes have stairs to the front door, as well--all of which would have to be modified. Often, the front door and the interior doors aren't wheelchair accessible, nor is a typical duplex bathroom big enough to convert to a group home bathroom that can accommodate wheelchairs. My guess is that we'll see more group homes in the suburbs north of us where there are large ranch houses that have these architectural features.

Let's see if THIS 'trickle down/pump priming' helps! I remember a previous occasion, when Jimmy Carter told us we would all be getting a rebate, then, at the last moment said, "Oops...my mistake!"

By that time, however, a lot of folks had already spent their anticipated 'rebate' and the economy got a kick in the pants anyway!

You are right that a lot of the troubles in the Middle East were of Britain' doing --- but also do not forget the roles that Italy, France, Russia and the USA contributed to the mess.

A Peace to End All Peace: Creating the Modern Middle East, 1914-1922

by David Fromkin (Author)

Editorial Reviews
